As Executive Editor of the Evening Standard I launched verticals including Lifestyle, Going Out, Insider, Travel and Fashion for the first time in the 180-years that the title had been publishing, helping it transition from a traditional print paper to a digital proposition.

My most challenging but thrilling moment during my time there came from opening the Evening Standard’s first office in New York. Simultaneously, I launched a new vertical called Insider which is a lifestyle platform built for transatlantic millennials.  I created and executed Insider, from the content strategy to marketing and branding, as well as hiring a brilliant team of US journalists. Working closely with our data and analytics team I built out a global audience and I’m delighted to say we gained millions of new readers from North America and the UK as a result.

I brought Harrods on board as our Insider launch partner. We threw a party at the Hoxton, Williamsburg to celebrate with American socialites, influencers, models and media on the guestlist. Plus, one of Harrods’ famous ‘green men’ flew over for the occasion. Then, there was a special dinner at Bluebird London NYC. In London we took over Sketch in Mayfair for a star-studded night. Oh, there was that time we sailed from Miami to the Bahamas for an Art Basel x Insider lunch with Celebrity Edge. We even rolled out the BAFTA red carpet at Kensington Palace for our partnership with Nespresso. Any excuse for a party.

Thanks to a hugely talented and committed team we scooped gongs along the way including Best Lifestyle News Site at the Drum Awards. Here are a few of us having a lovely time at the ceremony.
